Тhe Italian restaurant Vittoria is an elegant and spacious two-story establishment with an air of opulence and food to match. The service is absolutely outstanding, with waiters who are unobtrusive, yet discreetly cater to all of your needs.
We started our meal with delicious crostini, small pieces of toast covered with diced tomatoes bathed in olive oil and a selection of salads. The waiters also brought us some fornarina breadsticks which were a nice accompaniment to nibble on.
The fresh salad was a tasty mix of greens and fresh vegetables, and big enough for two. The Caesar salad was also quite nice, even if not exactly what one would expect in Rome. For the more adventurous, we recommend the avocado salad with marinated salmon and shrimp.
As for the main course, since this an Italian restaurant you are spoiled for choice when it comes to pasta. One of the highlights of Vittoria is that the pasta is made fresh, which simply elevates the taste and texture to a place above the ordinary. Integral varieties, made with whole wheat flour, are a good choice for the health conscious.
We tried the spaghetti Bolognese, an old standard made fresh and interesting in this establishment. Linguini with seafood was also delicious. Penne al’arrabiata was another tasty choice for those who like their food spicy, and the penne carbonara was also excellent with cured meat adding complexity to the flavor.
We rounded out this lovely meal with tiramisu and crème caramel for dessert. For foreigners craving an American staple, the cheesecake was also delicious.
Restaurant Vittoria isn’t cheap, but it’s worth the cost, even if you have to make a special trip into the center to get there. Great for a fancy dinner out.
