Towards Community Living

kyustendil-disabilities-homeUnder the banner of Macedonia’s chairmanship of the Council of Europe this year, the conference “Towards Community Living: Current Realities and Future Challenges,” will take place in Skopje on 7-8 October.  The goal of the conference is to facilitate full inclusion of persons with disabilities in society in accordance with UN efforts and conventions to that effect.

Participants from around Europe will share their knowledge, experience and ideas in plenary sessions, workshop presentations, discussions and debates.  Topics to be addressed include the availability of support services for persons with disabilities across Europe, achieving accessibility & e-accessibility of society, networking, education and employment.

The conference is intended for professionals, service providers, people with disabilities and their families, researchers, educators, and policy makers active in the disabilities sector as well as anyone interested in the improvement of living conditions for persons with disabilities.

Plenary sessions will be translated into Macedonian, French, German and English.  Workshops will be conducted in English.

The conference is sponsored by EASPD, Republic centre for support of persons with intellectual disability (PORAKA), Open the Windows, the Macedonian Scientific Society for Autism and the Office of the social-political Attaché (BMASK) at the Austrian Embassy in Skopje.
